Life and exhibitions:
1930 Makes the first sculpture in wood.
1933 Visits an exhibition of avant-garde art (works by Klee, Kokoschka, Kandinsky, Nolde, Kirchner and others), which makes a strong impression on him.
1942 and until 1955 he exhibited at the Artists' Autumn Exhibition.
During these years he made acquaintances or friendships with Richard Mortensen, Heerup, Bille, Jorn, Egill Jacobsen and Carl-Henning Pedersen.
1947 Settles in Surestes, France.
1948 Participates in a group exhibition at Galerie Denise Rene. Establishes acquaintances and friendships with Arp, Dewasne, Deyrolle, Herbin, Magnelli, Poliakoff and Vasarely.
1949 Goes from stone to iron in his works. Exhibitor at the Salon de Mai and at the Salon de la Jeune Sculpture, Paris.
1950 Exhibitor in Helsinki, Stockholm and Paris.
1951 Solo exhibition at Birch Copenhagen and participates in Klar Form in Copenhagen. Stockholm, Helsinki and Liege.

1966 Represents Denmark at the Venice Biennale. Receives together with the French sculptor Etienne Martin the biennale's sculpture prize.
1969 Moves back to Denmark. Settles in Taagelund by Egtved.
