Nana RHB
Flower Power
18.01 - 01.03
In the solo exhibition Flower Power, Galleri NB presents a series of works by Nana RHB, where cardboard boxes and flower bouquets merge in a tension-filled dialogue between chaos and harmony. In the exhibited Overpaintings, Nana RHB reworks and paints over photographs of cardboard installations and flower arrangements, printed on sailcloth, canvas, and paper.
The works blur the boundaries between the industrial and the natural, uniting the visual elements in a new constellation. By transforming the cardboard box—a typical everyday object—into an artistic metaphor, Nana RHB challenges our understanding of sustainability, function, and value. The raw lines and geometric surfaces of the cardboard box meet the vibrant colors and organic forms of the flower bouquets, exploring the relationship between consumption, recycling, and the circular process of creation and decay found in both nature and human-made systems.
The title Flower Power refers to the inherent strength of nature and the transformative power of creativity. The flowers represent vitality and renewal, while the cardboard constructions reflect humanity's footprint and our responsibility in relation to nature. Inspired by the peace movement of the 1960s, Nana RHB brings a classical motif like the floral still life into a contemporary, socially critical context, focusing on the desire for peace and the preservation of nature.
