This is the foreword to the exhibition:

It is a great honor for me to welcome you to Vilmantas Marcinkevicius' exhibition at Vestjyllands Kunstpavillon. The catalog serves as an introduction to the works of an artist whose existential paintings are created in a never-ending quest for the meaning of fundamental human values. Vilmantas manages to seek out and capture moments of reflection and introspection through his art, inviting us to explore the profound mysteries and challenges we meet in our own existence.

One of the central themes of this exhibition is the series of works titled "At The Ocean," inspired by the adventurer Columbus and Vilmantas' own experiences.

It is a great honor for me to welcome you in this preface to Vilmantas Marcinkevicius' exhibition at Vestjyllands Kunstpavillon. The catalog serves as an introduction to the works of an artist whose existential paintings are created in an eternal quest for the meaning of fundamental human values. Vilmantas manages to seek out and capture moments of reflection and introspection through his art, inviting us to explore the deep mysteries and challenges we encounter in our own existence.

One of the central themes of this exhibition is the series of works titled "At The Ocean," inspired by both the adventurer Columbus and Vilmantas' own experiences. Through these works, Vilmantas brings attention to our eternal quest for new horizons, exploration, and adventure in the manifold possibilities in life, at a time when our world still seems endless and undiscovered. The composition, depth, and beauty of the paintings on display awaken our own curiosity, prompting us to ponder our place in this world and our search for meaning. Not least of all, the actual question of whether we can imagine where we'll end up in life.

Another noteworthy theme in this exhibition is the "Together" series, emphasizing the importance of love and social relationships. Through his art, Vilmantas reminds us that as individuals, we are connected to each other, and our close relationships are crucial to our well-being. These works encourage us to reflect on the significance of love and community—the importance of forming personal relations and appreciating the value of bonding and being together.

Particularly thought-provoking is Vilmantas' ability to portray "Faces of Friends I never Met." These paintings reflect an understanding of the human mind and its diversity, reminding us that even though we may not have met everyone in the world, we are all connected across time and space. Vilmantas builds a bridge between the familiar and the unknown, inviting us to reflect on our understanding of friendships and communities, not only in our immediate surroundings but also in the global society to which we all belong.

"Passion" is the fourth theme, showcasing an outgoing and emotionally strong artistic personality. As observers, we are met with strong expressions and bold brushstrokes and colors. The paintings are figurative and legible, yet they have the power to deeply touch us when we recognize situations from our own lives. They visualize our frustrations, erotic dreams, and helplessness in situations beyond our control.

In this exhibition, Vilmantas takes us on a journey into the existential, challenging us to reflect on our individual lives and the meaning and significance of our actions. His works address universal and fundamentally important topics for us as humans, capturing the complexity and beauty of our human existence and urging us to embrace the inexplicable and explore the deeper layers of our minds.

Already considered one of the most influential artists in his home country of Lithuania, Vilmantas Marcinkevicius has collaborated with Galleri NB since 1998. It has been a distinct pleasure to share the joy of his art with so many people in Denmark and around the world. It is, therefore, a great honor and pleasure for Vilmantas to have the opportunity to present his art to a large and interested audience at this significant venue—the Vestjyllands Kunstpavillon.
