Rikke Laursen – SOLO
Ceramic Sculptures
Rikke Laursen was born and raised in Viborg, and with this exhibition she returns to her hometown. She currently works from her studio in Copenhagen and already has an extensive CV with exhibitions both in Denmark and abroad. As a new artist at Galleri NB, she made her debut with the gallery at the Art Vilnius fair in October, where all of her works were sold. Galleri NB therefore regards Rikke Laursen as a strong new voice in Danish art with clear international appeal, having demonstrated significant impact among both collectors and art enthusiasts.
With an original and consistent approach to clay, she creates sculptures with a strong personal expression, balancing between the sensuous and the narrative—works that spark both curiosity and excitement in the viewer.

In the exhibition SOLO, Rikke Laursen presents a series of ceramic sculptures shaped in organic and asymmetrical forms. Each sculpture is hand-built using the traditional coil technique, allowing the form to develop slowly and precisely. The characteristic thin “leaves” are shaped by hand and refined until they appear almost weightless. The surfaces are hand-glazed with a brush, giving each sculpture its own expression and a clear sense of the artist’s touch. The works have no fixed front or back but change character depending on the angle from which they are viewed.
The exhibition offers insight into Laursen’s deep understanding of her material and her attention to detail, where form, process, and surface come together in a calm, exploratory organic expression.
